Outfit Diaries – A Christmassy Theatre Trip

Christmas came early to Birmingham this year as Nativity The Musical came to The REP Theatre for a festive extravaganza; as fans of the incredible Nativity movies, my family were incredibly excited to see the performance and spend the night singing along to the show’s hit songs.

To get in the festive spirit I wrapped up warm and wore my pearl embellished jumper (alternative here) paired with a denim skirt with button details up the front. I braved the cold with bare legs so that I could wear my peep toe cream boots, which complimented the cream jumper. These shoes, although they do have a peep toe detail, are perfect for autumn/winter if you’re willing to have bare legs or wear skin coloured tights as they’re incredibly comfortable and pretty (and down to only £12!).

My beautiful pink Ted Baker bag had its first outing yesterday and it was the perfect addition to this outfit, which I’m sure will become a staple outfit through the winter period. The pink in the bag set off the pink scalloped edge coat (alternative here) and the rose gold jewellery that I wore. I went for pearl earrings (alternative here), my Pandora charm bracelet, bow ring and princess ring to add the finishing touch to the outfit.

Are you going to see any shows this winter? Tell me in the comments below!

Ankle Boots – An Autumnal Necessity

Pearls are everywhere this season – on the heels of shoes, embroidered across jumpers and all over bags to name just a few! A detail which used to be regarded as old fashioned has completely and utterly come back into style and I’m really happy about it. I wear pearl earrings almost everyday and I think they’re a timeless and classy style to incorporate into your wardrobe. Wine And Burgundy

As we move into the autumnal season colours like wine and burgundy begin to make up a large part of our wardrobe; inspired partly by the colours of nature changing around us into deep shades of red and orange. I love this colour and think it looks flattering on everybody, whatever skin tone or hair colour you have. It’s my go to colour for autumn as it always manages to look so classy and beautiful. I’ve collected together some of my favourite wine and burgundy coloured pieces that I’ve seen online and in store which I think are perfect for the autumn/winter season. As always, all of the pieces are shoppable, just click on the links!

Why I Always ‘Over Dress’

‘You can never be over dressed or over educated’ – Oscar Wilde

I once heard that over dressing is an art and honestly, I agree. Over dressing takes confidence and a very classy sense of style which I’ve had to work on and develop over time. For some people, dressing like they’re going to a formal dinner when they’re just going out for a casual meal with friends sounds terrifying but for me it’s now become my signature style.

I’m rarely seen in jeans, never seen in joggers and the term casual is basically a foreign concept to me. I’m more at home in blouses, skirts, dresses and heels than I’ll ever be in a pair of joggers, and that’s okay! There seems to be a stigma that dressing like I do means that you’re old or too prim and proper when in fact it just makes you look very smart. Where’s the harm in that?

Over dressing makes me feel very fancy and pretty, which in turn boosts my confidence. I usually wear neutral coloured (white, cream and blush pink) blouses and dresses which make my outfits look very feminine. I also invest in pretty jewellery, such as the Pandora Princess Tiara Ring, which add an extra touch to the outfit; little additions like this complete the look.

The True Decadence dress I’m wearing here is possibly the prettiest dress I’ve ever owned and it’s by far my favourite dress in the world. The pink combined with the lace and ruffles makes it a dream come true for people sharing my sense of style; if I was ever a dress, I would be this dress! Also, this now down from £75 to only £14.50!

Why It’s Important To Find Your Signature Style

Summer Fashion Favourites

I’m actually still in holiday mode, I travel back the day this goes live, but for most people summer has practically already finished and they’re now moving on to purchasing transitional and autumnal pieces. I thought I’d use the end of season to give a round up of my fashion favourites over the last few summer months. These are the things I’ve been wearing constantly and what I keep reaching for in my wardrobe; if I can I’ll include photos of me wearing the products. I’m planning to do this style of post for the end of each season to give you an update on what I’ve been wearing.

White Shoes

First up has to be my white block heels (you’d never have guessed!). I’m sure you’re all bored to death about these because I’ve included them on my blog so many times but they’ve honestly become my go-to shoes. I bought them in late June and have practically worn them ever since! The price per wear for these honestly has to be about 20p by now I swear. See these in action here, here and here.

I love simple day dresses which I can just throw on and have a ready made outfit and this blue gingham one from H&M is no exception. I’ve worn it loads for going out shopping or going to the park as it’s so comfortable and cute. See it in a blog post here.

Chloe Bag Dupe

My Chloe Drew Bag dupe from SheIn has become my staple bag over the past few months. It’s the perfect size for holding my essentials on a daily basis and is definitely small enough to carry around all day. The flower detail adds a little extra to it which makes it a bit more unique and less like an exact replica of a Chloe bag. See it here and here.

Those have been my top three worn pieces this season. What have you been wearing all summer long?

How To Feel Confident On Camera

How To Feel Confident On Camera

Feeling confident on camera is something I’m learning to do, I’m not going to lie I haven’t found it very easy, but I’m going to share some pieces of wisdom I’ve picked up along the way. As someone who isn’t overly body confident having to take multiple photos in outfits where the main focus was on my body and what I was wearing I wasn’t really a fan. I’ve been known to go over and over photos after a photoshoot, scrutinising every detail until I hate every single one. Obviously that’s not a good way to go about things and I saw that I needed to try and work on it.

Why The Sea Is My Happy Place

I’ve always found the sea very relaxing, it’s one of the most beautiful things on Earth and whenever I’m at the beach everything just seems to be okay. The gentle lap of the waves combined with the fresh sea air clears my head and lets me focus on myself, whilst reminding me of the beauty in the world around us. Not only that but I also seem a lot more inspired when I’m at the beach. I’ve been known to have complete writers block but after visiting the sea I’ve written countless chapters of books, poems and blog posts! The beauty of the sea is simply astounding.

Reconnecting with yourself is an important part of mindfulness and the sea offers you the chance to do just that. The natural wonder reminds you that focusing on your mind, body and soul is an integral part of life and by doing so you can take the spirit of the sea – its beauty and freedom – and implement it into your own life.
